A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA ENDORSING THE "NO PLACE FOR HATE"
CAMPAIGN WHICH IS BEING SPEARHEADED BY THE
ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE AND THE MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY COMMUNITY RELATIONS BOARD.
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board is launching a "No
Place For Hate" Campaign, in collaboration with the Anti-Defamation League, which will
coincide with their 40th Anniversary conference to be held the first week in September 2003, and
the 90th Anniversary of the Anti-Defamation League; and
WHEREAS, the "No Place For Hate" Campaign, is a national campaign spearheaded by
the Anti-Defamation League to fight prejudice, to fight hate crimes, and to promote respect for
differences; and
WHEREAS, the campaign in Miami-Dade County will use the trademark logo of the
Anti-Defamation League as its banner and will include outreach to garner participation and
commitment across many tiers of the community; and
WHEREAS, the campaign will provide education, training, prejudice prevention, and
encourage Miami-Dade County residents to make a personal pledge to stop hate and to practice
tolerance through mutual respect, dialogue, and understanding; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Community Relations Board will serve as the
liaison between the City of Miami Beach and the campaign in Miami-Dade County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND
CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the
"No Place For Hate" Campaign being launched by the Miami-Dade County
Community Relations Board in conjunction with the Anti-Defamation League is hereby
supported.
