A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RESCINDING
RESOLUTION NO. 83-17422 ADOPTED JULY 20 ,
1983 , CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER
1, 1983 , FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO
THE ELECTORATE THE QUESTION OF ISSUANCE OF
EXCISE TAX BONDS IN THE AMOUNT OF TWENTY SIX
MILLION (26,000 ,000) DOLLARS TO FINANCE AC-
QUISITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF , IMPROVEMENTS ,
AND ADDITIONS TO, AND EQUIPMENT OF , THE CON-
VENTION CENTER COMPLEX.
WHEREAS , the City Commission on July 20 , 1983 , passed
a resolution calling for a special election on November 1, 1983
for the purpose of submitting to the electorate the question of
issuance of excise tax bonds in the amount of twenty six million
(26 ,000 ,000) dollars to finance acquisition and construction of ,
improvements, and additions to, and equipment of , the convention
center complex; and -
WHEREAS , the issuance of the twenty six million dollar
excise tax bonds were to be payable solely from an additional
Miami Beach two percent resort tax on rooms, utility service
taxes, and public utility franchise taxes; and
WHEREAS , the Metropolitan Dade County Commission is
proposing a one hundred million, twenty-year county-wide tax on
hotel rooms to pay for the expansion of the Miami Beach
Convention Center and to build a new convention center in
downtown Miami ; and
WHEREAS , the proposed Metropolitan Dade County tax on
hotel rooms will enable the City to finance acquisition and
construction of, improvements, and additions to, and equipment
of, the Convention Center complex; and
WHEREAS , due to the Dade County tax on hotel rooms,
the City Commission deems it in the best interest of the City of
Miami Beach not to proceed with the holding of a special
election on November 1, 1983 for the purpose of submitting to
the electorate Question #2 relating to issuance of Twenty Six
Million (26 ,000 ,000) Dollars worth of excise tax bonds for
expansion and improvements to the Convention Center complex;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that Resolution No. 83-17422
adopted July 20 , 1983 , calling a special election on November 1,
1983 , for the purpose of submitting to the electorate question
#2 relating to issuance of twenty six million (26,000 ,000)
dollar excise tax bonds to finance acquisition and construction
of improvements, and additions to and equipment of the
Convention Center complex, be and the same is hereby repealed
and rescinded; and
FURTHER, that the City Clerk shall take all necessary
actions to remove this question from the November 1, 1983
ballot.
