A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA URGING PANTRY PRIDE STORES,
INC. NOT TO CLOSE ANY STORES IN MIAMI BEACH AND
REQUESTING THE MANAGEMENT OF PANTRY PRIDE
STORES, INC. TO MEET WITH THE CITY ADMINISTRATION
TO DISCUSS ALTERNATIVES AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, Pantry Pride Stores, Inc. is planning to close four of its eight stores
in Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS, Pantry Pride Stores, Inc. has served many Miami Beach residents
including thousands of elderly persons who don't drive and can walk to these facilities
and who virtually depend on nearby Pantry Pride Stores for survival, and
WHEREAS, Pantry Pride Stores, Inc. has had a tremendously positive economic
impact on the community, and
WHEREAS, such a closing would not only have a negative effect on the City of
Miami Beach but would cause severe hardships to the many thousands of residents who
depend on those Pantry Pride Stores to fulfill their food shopping needs.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
1. That the City of Miami Beach City Commission urge
Pantry Pride Stores, Inc. not to close their Miami Beach
stores, and
2. That the management of Pantry Pride Stores, Inc. be
requested to meet with the City Administration to discuss
alternatives and possible solutions to the problems which
may have led to this decision.
