A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI BEACH CITY
COMMISSION CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING
TO CONSIDER THE RECOMMENDATION OF
THE PLANNING BOARD OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FOR THE ADOPTION OF A
NEW ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING
ORDINANCE NO. 1891; PROVIDING FOR THE
ELIMINATION OF MARINE DISTRICT I AND II
AND CREATING AN ZONING DISTRICT
ENTITLED WATERWAY DISTRICT; PROVIDING
FOR THE CREATION OF THE WATERWAY
MANAGEMENT BOARD AND WATERWAY
DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN
REVIEW COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the Planning Board of the City of Miami Beach, after a
public hearing on September 1, 1983, recommended to the City Commission that the
Waterway District regulations be incorporated into the Zoning Ordinance as approved and
recommended by said Board, said Ordinance being entitled as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
AMENDING THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE
NO. 1891; PROVIDING AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 3-2
CREATING A DEFINITION FOR "GAZEBO" AND
"SIDEWALK CAFE"; PROVIDING FOR AN AMENDMENT
ELIMINATING SECTION 6-19 MD-I MARINE DISTRICT
AND SECTION 6-20 MD-II MARINE DISTRICT AND
CREATING A NEW DISTRICT ENTITLED WD WATERWAY
DISTRICT INCLUDING THE CREATION OF A WATERWAY
DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN REVIEW
COMMISSION AND A MANAGEMENT REVIEW BOARD;
PROVIDING FOR A NEW SECTION 11-2, H ESTABISHING
SIGN REGULATIONS FOR WATERWAY DISTRICT;
PROVIDING FOR A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTY TO
BE LOCATED WITHIN THE WATERWAY DISTRICT;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE;
WHEREAS, the Waterway Ad Hoc Task Force had recommended a
similar Ordinance to the one the Planning Board is recommending;
AND, WHEREAS, said action of the Planning Board has been duly
transmitted to the City Commission pursuant to Section 16, Changes and Amendments,of
Ordinance No. 1891.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a public hearing for the
consideration of the aforementioned proposed zoning ordinance amendment is hereby called
to be held before the City Commission at its Chambers on the Third Floor of City Hall, 1700
Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida beginning at 3:30 P.M•on the 16th day
of November , 1983 and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish in
a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Miami Beach, at which time and place all
interested parties will be heard.
