A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH URGING INCLUSION OF
ORGAN DONOR INFORMATION ON FLORIDA DRIVERS
LICENSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach recognizes the poten-
tial for saving human life which is possible through the dona-
tion of organs by interested persons and that in order to make
such an effort viable a reliable means of identifying donors is
essential; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is supportive of es-
tablishing the most effective method of organ donor identifica-
tion and determines that this may be achieved by including such
information on a donor 's driver license; and
WHEREAS, a uniform method of using the drivers license
for organ donor identification would provide consistency to the
procurement of organs in all fifty states and has already been
implemented in a number of states including Colorado, Virginia
and Minnesota;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMIS-
SION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1:
That the City Commission urges the Florida Legislature
to adopt appropriate bills to insure that this effec-
tive method of providing organ donor identification on
the Florida drivers license is implemented in our
State in the most cost effective manner possible.
Section 2 . :
That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the
Dade County Legislative Delegation and that they are
requested hereby to introduce such legislation.

Section 3 .
That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the
Dade County Commission requesting their support and
asking them to make their support known to our State
legislators.
