A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AN INTER-LOCAL
AGREEMENT WITH METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY IN
CONNECTION WITH A DADE COUNTY 3% RESORT TAX
ON HOTEL ROOMS .
WHEREAS , the expansion of the Miami Beach Convention
Center is in the best interest of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , the Metropolitan Dade County Commission
recently approved a 3% resort tax on hotel rooms to pay for the
expansion of the Miami Beach Convention Center and to build a new
convention center in downtown Miami; and
WHEREAS, an inter-local agreement with Dade County is
necessary to effectuate the county 3% resort tax on hotel rooms;
and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Miami
Beach to enter into an inter-local agreement with Dade County:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT the City Manager be
authorized to negotiate an inter-local agreement with Metropolitan
Dade County concerning the 3% county resort tax on hotel rooms.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of October ,
1983 .
