A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
APPLY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND RE-
HABILITATIVE

HABILITATIVE SERVICES ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR A DEVEL-
OPMENTAL TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MENTALLY RETARDED
ADULTS AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF THE GRANT
CONTRACTS WHEN RECEIVED. For Fiscal Year beginning
October 1, 1983 and ending September 30, 1984
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach desires to apply to the
Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services for grant funds
for a Developmental Training Program for Mentally Retarded Adults ,
on behalf of the City of Miami Beach Department of Community
Affairs and Human Services ; and
WHEREAS , said Program is planned for forty (40) adult mental
retardates for fifty-two (52) weeks a year , Monday through Friday,
from 9 : 00 a .m. to 3 : 00 p .m. , at the Log Cabin , a Department of
Community Affairs and Human Services facility of the City of
Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach has estimated that program
costs will amount to approximately $162 , 353 , and will provide for
all costs of the Program, including personnel, materials , supplies
and transportation; and
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach will not be obligated to
continue the Program if grant funds are not approved; and
WHEREAS , the source of the funds will be 75% Federal , 12k%
State , and 1214% match from the City of Miami Beach in the form of
employee fringe benefits and in-kind services and support .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager be and he
is hereby authorized, directed and empowered, as the designated
official of the City of Miami Beach, to make application to the
Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services for grant funds
for the Developmental Training Program for Mentally Retarded
Adults and that the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized
and directed to execute and deliver , for and on behalf of the City
of Miami Beach, any Grant contract with the said State Department
of Health and Rehabilitative Services , setting forth the City ' s
commitment to meet and comply with all the terms and provisions of
such grant , when and if made. A copy of said agreement is made a
part of this resolution by reference .
