A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CERTIFICATE OF THE
CANVASSING COMMITTEE AS TO THE RESULTS OF THE
NOVEMBER 1 , 1983 GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTIONS;
DECLARING RESULTS THEREOF.
WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Commission of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida the Certificate of the City Manager ,
City Attorney and the City Clerk as the Canvassing Committee of
said City Commission as to the results of the canvass of the returns
of the General and Special Elections held in said City on November 1 ,
1983 and
WHEREAS , the said Canvassing Committee has duly canvassed said
returns and certified the returns of said Elections ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it hereby adopts the said
Certificate as to the results of said Elections and it is hereby
ordered that the same certificate and this Resolution be recorded
in the minutes of this meeting as a permanent record of the results
of said Elections;
AND IT IS FURTHER FOUND, DETERMINED AND RESOLVED that the
following candidates for Mayor and City Commissioner, Groups I, II ,
III , IV, V, and VI received the highest number of votes casts , and
are hereby declared ELECTED:

We, the City Manager, City Attorney and the City Clerk of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, do hereby certify that we have made a canvass
of the returns of the General and Special Elections held in Miami
Beach, Florida, on November 1, 1983 , as conducted by the Clerks and
Inspectors who were duly appointed by the Metropolitan Dade County
Supervisor of Elections; and as reflected by certification received
from the Supervisor of Elections of Dade County Florida; such canvass
having been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns
and certification; and DO HEREBY CERTIFY that as a result of said
canvass, we have found and DO HEREBY DECLARE the results of said
elections to be as follows :

bearing interest at a rate or rates as may be determined at the time
of the sale thereof , not exceeding the maximum legal rate of interest
at such time, for structural and acoustical additions , renovations , and
improvements to the Theater of the Performing Arts?
8 , 918 votes were cast FOR THE BONDS
7 , 968 votes were cast AGAINST THE BONDS
That upon Question No. 2
Shall Chapter 26027 , Laws of Florida , Special Acts of 1949 being Article
VII , §§ 40 through 42 , of the Related Laws of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, be amended to provide for flexibility in number of Library
Board Trustee members; defining duties of Board; providing that all
personnel except unclassified personnel shall be appointed in accordance
with the Civil Service Act, and repealing provisions of said Article
contrary thereto; changing City Council to City Commission?

That upon Question No. 3
Shall Section 8 , of the Charter of the City of Miami Beach be amended
to : provide that future adult congregate living facilities and nursing
home zoning ordinances be approved by the electorate; provide for
unanimous conditional use approval by the City Commission for adult
congregate living facilities and nursing homes; provide for a health advisory
board; require density variances for low income housing projects be
approved by referendum?
