Program (Beautification, Opportunity, Safety and Security) B eautification •Lighting •Artistic Installations (Murals) O pportunities •Fill vacant storefronts •Launch live music and art series Safety & S ecurity •Ambassador Team •Customer Service Washington Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) *Image courtesy of Tanya Bhatt 21 Ongoing City Initiatives for Washington Ave Completed City Projects Wrapped the palm trees along a few of the medians, either side of Espanola Way, with rope lighting. Holiday lighting for Espanola Way Cultural Crawl along Washington Ave Planted trees along Washington Installed bonded aggregate within the tree pits on the Corridor New shrub planting & irrigation repair 500-600 citations issued per year primarily for City Code zoning, zoning, and Sanitation violations Renovation of City Parking lot (Washington Ave & 9th) 22 Ongoing City Initiatives 5 year pilot program placing 65 solar compacting garbage cans and recycling containers along the Washington Avenue corridor. Free Trolley Service along Washington Avenue and connecting with Citywide trolley service New Parking Garage at 1262 Collins Ave 158 parking spaces (105 new spaces) 50 workforce housing units (2 on top floor) Police Department renovation (to be completed in 2024) As of February 7, 2019 the City streamlined the Pop Up Special Event Permit to temporarily activate vacant storefront space Citywide including Washington Avenue Homeless awareness program is being developed in partnership with BID 23 24 Overview of Zyscovich 2019 Scope of Work Zyscovich Scope of Work & Next Steps Customized approach for creating concept designs for Washington Avenue that looks at an initial Visioning Phase divided into three (3) critical tasks. Task 1 Project Initiation and Review of Existing Conditions Documentation - April 2019 Task 2 Visioning Input and Public Engagement - April – May 2019 A.
