RESOLUTION 84-17669 RESOLUTION NUMBER 84-17669 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH APPROVING $193,500 OF RE-ASSIGNED, EXISTING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE RENOVATION AND MODERNIZATION OF FIRE FACILITIES #2 AND #4, INCLUDING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MAINTENANCE FACILITY. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is authorized by Commission Memorandum Number 5467 dated January 21, 1976, to prepare an application for Community Development Block Grant funds and to design and implement such systems as are necessary to insure that the Community Development Program is developed, conducted and administered in accordance with Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, and any Federal regulations promulgated there under, as well as applicable state and local authority, and in such capacity is authorized to enter into and execute agreements with other departments and agencies within the City; and, WHEREAS, Fire Stations #2 and #4, constructed in 1937 and 1938 as simple fire houses, have outgrown its ability to accommodate needed space requirements for administrative headquarters, apparatus maintenance for city-wide equipment, storage space, fire rescue operations, a communications and dispatch center, fire prevention and arson investigation, public information section, personnel training, testing and recertification; and WHEREAS, an overall program of modernization is necessary to provide a more efficient, productive and effective fire service for the citizens of Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, additional funds are needed to complete the fire facilities renovation including the construction of the maintenance facility at Fire Station #2; and WHEREAS, the City Commission approved the expenditure of funds in Resolution Numbers 83-17336, and 83-17366 for the renovation and modernization of Fire Stations #2 and #4; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the B-81 Lincoln Road project will not reach the construction implementation stage by September 30, 1984, and WHEREAS, the Community Development Advisory Committee and staff have recommended the reallocation of funds from B-81 Lincoln Road project, for the completion of the project in the amount of $193,500 for the overall renovation and construction activities, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Fire Facilities Renovation/Modernization Project completion be funded with $193,500 of existing Community Development Block Grant Funds, and that said project continue to be implemented under the direction of the Miami Beach Fire Department.
