A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMENDING THE
MIAMI BEACH JAYCEES AND JAYCEE WOMEN FOR THEIR
CONTINUING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GOOD AND
WELFARE OF THIS COMMUNITY; AND JOINING WITH
THEM IN URGING THE UNITED STATES JAYCEES TO
AMEND THEIR CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS TO ADMIT
WOMEN INTO GENERAL MEMBERSHIP.
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach has been the prime
beneficiary of the volunteer efforts and contributions of the
Miami Beach Jaycees and Jaycee Women; and
WHEREAS , high-profile projects such as the Electric
Island Run, Carnaval Miami Beach and the nationally recognized July
4th All American Weekend focus much-needed positive attention on
our community and measurably elevate the City' s image; and
WHEREAS, each year , Jaycee volunteers also contribute
countless hours to raise tens of thousands of dollars for
continuing medical research to combat Muscular Dystrophy, Juvenile
Diabetes, Cerebral Palsy and other crippling diseases; and
WHEREAS , Jaycees allows all young people in our
community the opportunity to contribute toward the betterment of
their City, while reaping the inherent participatory benefits of
increased leadership and communications skills; and
WHEREAS , Jaycee chapters throughout the United States
have long contributed to the spirit, pride and welfare of America,
through volunteerism and leading by example; and
WHEREAS , the Jaycee Creed embodies a noble doctrine of
high moral standard and service to humanity;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that the Miami Beach Jaycees and Jaycee
Women be commended for their creative, energetic, enthusiastic and
imminently successful endeavors on behalf of their community and
country. Indeed, they are a source of great pride and one of
Miami Beach' s greatest natural resources. And that we join in
supporting their continuing efforts in crusading for amendments to
the by-laws and constitution of the United States Jaycees, which

seek to permit Jaycee chapters throughout the nation to admit
women into the mainstream of general membership.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 4th day of Apr' 1984.
