A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE VISITOR AND
CONVENTION AUTHORITY AND REPEALING RESOLU-
TION NO. 84-17745 ADOPTED MAY 16 , 1984.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that;
1. It supports the establishment of a Special Events
Committee under the jurisdiction of the Visitor and Convention
Authority; and
2. The City Commission shall establish a line item
amount of not less than $150 ,000 for funding for fiscal year
1984-85 for special events and transfer such funds yearly to the
Visitor and Convention Authority, which transfer shall be
conditioned upon the Visitor and Convention Authority funding
not less than $50 ,000 to such committee for special events; and
3. It is suggested to the Visitor and Convention Au-
thority that the Special Events Committee be comprised of seven
members, two (2) to be appointed by the City Commission; two (2)
to be appointed by the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention
Authority; one shall be the Executive Director of the Chamber of
Commerce or a designee; one shall be the City Manager or a
designee from the City Manager 's office, and one shall be the
Executive Director of the Visitor and Convention Authority or
his designee from the Visitor and Convention Authority. Members
of the Special Events Committee may be selected from the City
Commission and/or the Visitor and Convention Authority.
4. Resolution No. 84-17745 is hereby repealed in its
entirety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COM-
MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA supporting the
establishment of a Special Events Committee under the jurisdic-

tion of the Visitor and Convention Authority as outlined above
and repealing Resolution No. 84-17745.
