A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING
THE MIAMI BEACH TENNIS, RACQUETBALL AND
HANDBALL COMMITTEE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that:
1. There is hereby created and established a Miami
Beach Tennis, Racquetball and Handball Committee to promote
tennis, racquetball and handball to the greatest extent feasible
and the Committee shall strive in general to further community
support to achieve this purpose.
2. The Committee shall consist of seven (7) voting
members. Each City Commissioner shall appoint one member .
3. The members shall serve terms of one (1) year
each. Vacancies occurring shall be filled by appointment by the
City Commissioner who made the original appointment, for the
unexpired period, in the same manner as the original appointment.
Members shall serve until the expiration of their terms or until
a successor is appointed.
4 . The voting members shall serve at the pleasure of
the City Commission. Any member of the Committee may be removed
from office by four-sevenths vote of the City Commission.
5 . The Committee shall designate a secretary who may
or may not be a member of the Committee. The chairperson and
vice-chairperson shall be selected from among the members of the
Committee. Four (4) members of the Committee shall constitute a
quorum. A majority of the quorum is empowered to exercise all
the rights and perform all the duties of the Committee and no
vacancy in the Committee shall impair the right of the quorum to
act.
The members of the Committee may make and adopt bylaws
and rules and regulations for the Committee ' s governance and for
the operation, governance, and maintenance of its facilities.
The Committee shall hold regular monthly meetings and
other meetings as it deems necessary. All meetings of the Com-
mittee shall be public, and written minutes of the proceedings

thereof shall be maintained by the Committee. All actions taken
at the meetings of the Committee shall be promptly and properly
recorded. The official City policies relating to the attendance
of regular board meetings shall be applicable to members of the
Committee.
6. The powers and duties of the said Committee shall
be :
a. To make studies and reports to the City Com-
mission and the City Manager on all matters pertaining and
relating to the use and operation of the City ' s tennis, racquet-
ball, and handball facilities and recommendations for the
improvement thereof.
b. To make such recommendations on all matters
concerning the use and operation of said municipal tennis,
racquetball, and handball facilities as it may deem desirable and
appropriate, and to transmit the same to the City Manager and the
City Commission, for such action as the City Manager and the City
Commission may deem appropriate.
c. To consider and act upon any and all matters
referred to by the City Manager or the City Commission pertaining
to the use and operation of the municipal tennis, racquetball,
and handball facilities, and to submit its findings and
recommendations on such matters to the City Manager or to the
City Commission as shall be appropriate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COM-
MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Miami Beach
Tennis, Racquetball and Handball Committee is established.
