A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RECOMMENDING
AND URGING THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF
FLORIDA TO APPOINT JAMES RESNICK AS A
COMMISSIONER OF THE STATE ATHLETIC
COMMISSION.
WHEREAS , the State Athletic Commission will exclusively
regulate boxing in the State of Florida on October 1, 1984; and
WHEREAS , the Miami Beach Boxing Commission has been in
existence for over fifty years and has represented the City of
Miami Beach and the State of Florida in the WBA, USBA, and WBC;
and
WHEREAS , James Resnick is the chairman of the Miami
Beach Boxing Commission and vice chairman of the Miami Boxing
Commission; and
WHEREAS , James Resnick is vice president of the World
Boxing Association and in that capacity he has vigorously
represented the City of Miami Beach, State of Florida and the
United States in the world of boxing; and
WHEREAS, Mr . Resnick is the highest ranking World Boxing
Association official in the United States; and
WHEREAS, James Resnick is a community oriented
individual with an impeccable reputation and unquestionable
integrity in the world of boxing;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that the City Commission recommends and
urges the governor to appoint James Resnick to the position of
Commissioner of the State Athletic Commission.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 20th day of June, 1984.
