A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMENDING LES
FELDMAN, MIAMI BEACH JAYCEES AND JAYCEE
WOMEN , AND CITY EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR LAUD I TORY
AND MOMENTUS EFFORTS IN BRINGING ABOUT THE
MIAMI BEACH FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION,
WHEREAS , on July 4 , 1984 the Miami Beach Jaycees and
Jaycee Women held their Fourth of July extravaganza which was a
manifestation of the vitality of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , through the efforts of Les Feldman and the
Miami Beach Jaycees and Jaycee Women, the Beach Boys, Three Dog
Night and Ringo Starr appeared as the main event in a grandios
concert at Lummus Park; and
WHEREAS , as a result of this landmark event the City of
Miami Beach captured immeasurable publicity which was widely
hailed by all the major networks, magazines and newspapers; and
WHEREAS , this legendary event produced the most positive
publicity in the recent history of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , this event rightfully placed Miami Beach in the
spotlight once again in the entertainment world; and
WHEREAS , this event has pioneered the way for future
major events which will draw national publicity; and
WHEREAS , this event helped the economy of the City; and
WHEREAS , the City employees manifested dedication in
assisting Les Feldman and the Miami Beach Jaycees and Jaycee Women
in the presentation of this event;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT Les Feldman, Miami Beach
Jaycees and Jaycee Women, Miami Beach Police, Fire, Beach Patrol,
Sanitation, Visitor and Convention Authority, City Administation,
City Attorney ' s Office and Miami Beach City employees are hereby
commended and congratulated for their endeavors which have
facilitated the most successful and exciting event in recent years
on Miami Beach.
