A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT
BETWEEN DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH AND THE VILLAGE OF BAL HARBOUR,
CREATING THE GREATER MIAMI CONVENTION
CONSORTIUM; ESTABLISHING BY THIS AGREEMENT A
UNIFIED AND JOINTLY COORDINATED CONVENTION
PROMOTION AND MARKETING EFFORT; COMMITTING,
UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, TWENTY-FIVE
PERCENT OF THE CITY'S RESORT TAX; PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS , pursuant to Chapter 163 , Florida Statutes,
providing for the creation of interlocal agreements between public
agencies (the Florida Interlocal Cooperation Act of 1969) , and
Chapter 166 , Florida Statutes the City Commission has the
authority to enter into interlocal agreements with other public
agencies, to perform certain powers, privileges or authorities,
which each public agency shares in common and which each might
exercise separately; and
WHEREAS , the City Commission finds and determines that
the execution of an interlocal agreement among the City of Miami
Beach, Dade County, and the Village of Bal Harbour for the purpose
of establishing a unified and jointly coordinated effort for the
promotion and marketing of conventions and convention sales is in
the best interest of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , the City Commission approves the form and
content of the interlocal agreement, a copy of which is attached
to this resolution and made a part hereof, between the City of
Miami Beach, Dade County, and the Village of Bal Harbour (herein
collectively the "Public Agencies" ) , creating The Greater Miami
Convention Consortium (herein the "Consortium" ) ;
WHEREAS , pursuant to this interlocal agreement and under
certain circumstances, the City of Miami Beach would contribute
25% of its resort tax revenues to the Consortium. Such funds to
be contributed to the City by the Visitor and Convention
Authority.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: The City Commission hereby finds and
determines the matters above set forth.
Section 2 . The Interlocal Agreement, a true copy of
which is attached hereto, between the City of Miami Beach, Dade
County and the Village of Bal Harbour , together with the agreement
between the Consortium and Tourism Industry Coalition of Greater
Miami , Inc, , attached as Schedule 1 to the Interlocal Agreement,
is hereby confirmed, approved and authorized subject to the
receipt of applicable funds by the City from the Visitor and
Convention Authority.
Section 3 . The Mayor and all other employees and
officers of the City of Miami Beach are hereby authorized and
directed to take whatever action is deemed necessary or desirable
in connection with the execution of the Interlocal Agreement and
the consumation of any transactions in connection with the
Interlocal Agreement, in order to carry out the intents and
purposes established thereunder .
Section 4 . This resolution shall take effect on the
date of its adoption. The Interlocal Agreement shall take effect
as of October 1, 1984 .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 11th day of July, 1984 .
