A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING ALL
LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN DADE COUNTY TO JOIN
TOGETHER TO PROMOTE INCREASED CONVENTION
BUSINESS.
WHEREAS, the municipalities in Dade County are
experiencing a boom in the construction of hotels, offices and
banking facilities; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the tourism and economic
development of the area to encourage and seek increased
convention business from throughout the United States and Latin
America; and
WHEREAS, tourism is the major industry of Dade County
accounting for thirty four percent of the work force; and
WHEREAS, the cities in Dade County are actively seeking
convention business with funds from both the public and private
sector to accomplish this task;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COM-
MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1
That all cities in Dade County are urged to join with
the private sector to provide funds to promote conventions to be
held in Dade County from throughout the United States and Latin
America.
SECTION 2
That the Miami Beach City Commission support the
concept of this joint venture and directs the City Clerk to
distribute copies of this resolution asshe deems appropriate.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of September , 1984 .
