RESOLUTION 84-17880 RESOLUTION NO. 84 -17880 A RESOLUTION CREATING THE RECREATIONAL CENTERS AND PARKS FACILITIES BOARD; PROVIDING FOR ITS MEMBERSHIP; THE MODE OF APPOINTMENT; AND ITS JURISDICTION, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 78-15708. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that: SECTION 1: That effective October 3, 1984, the existing Recreational Centers and Parks Facilities Board created by Resolution No. 78-15708 is repealed and a new Recreational Centers and Parks Facilities board is created. Said Board shall consist of 22 members to have the qualifications, the rights, duties, responsi- bilities and jurisdiction as hereinafter set forth: 1. Said Recreational Centers and Parks Facilities board shall be comprised of 22 members. Each member of the City Commission shall appoint 2 members. There shall be 8 at-large members appointed by the City Commission. 2. Members shall be permanent residents and/or registered voters of the City of Miami Beach, and 18 years or older. 3. The Board shall have the following rights, duties, responsibilities and jurisdiction: The Board shall be charged with the duty and responsibility to act in an advisory capacity to the City Commission, City Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation in matters pertaining to recrea- tional centers and recreational parks. Said Board shall cooperate with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound recreational centers and recreational park planning and programming. The Board shall be purely advisory and recommendatory regarding the programs and services of said centers and parks. 4. The Board shall meet and organize at the earliest possible time immediately following its formulation and shall elect a chairman and vice-chairman who shall hold office at the will of the Board. Its meeting shall be held at such times and places as shall be fixed and determined by it, and the Board shall comply with the provisions of Resolution No. 13248 relative to attend- ance and submission of the minutes of its meetings. The City Manager is hereby directed and authorized to furnish, supply and make available to the Board suitable and proper accommodations for the transaction of the business of said Board. The Board shall submit to the City Manager and the City Commission interim reports as to the performance of its duties and responsibilities as hereinabove set forth. SECTION 2: That the terms of the current members shall expire on April 6, 1985, and subsequent to April 6, 1985, all terms shall be for one year. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of October, 1984.
