RETIREMENT OF ESTHER "SUGAR" FIRTEL

Please be advised that after a long period of service to this community and the Parks and
Recreation Department, the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, Sugar Firtel has
retired from active duty with the City. Ms. Firtel's last day in the office was Friday, July 11.
I'm sure you join me in expressing our appreciation for Sugar's long service with the City.
This Assistant Director position is pivotal in the reorganized Parks and Recreation
Department and my staff has already begun the process of advertising for a replacement.
The City will undertake a national search to find the best qualified recreation professional
available to help the City address its long term Parks and Recreation needs.
