EMERGENCY DEMOLITION ORDER FOR 928 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE
Please be advised that an emergency demolition order has been issued by the Building
Official for the immediate demolition of the above referenced structure.
The Building Official upon review of a consulting engineer's report that details the extent of
deterioration of all remaining structural elements in the building, and upon field
investigation by the City's structural engineer and his concurrence with the consulting
engineer's opinion that the building is in the imminent danger of collapse, has concluded
that the structure poses an immediate danger to the public, and therefore has issued an
emergency demolition order.
The City's Historic Preservation Officer and the Chairman of the Historic Preservation
Board (HPB) attended a meeting with the Building Official, City's structural engineer and
the consulting engineer, and were advised of the status of the building. The HPB has been
advised and will determine if a special meeting of the HPB will be convened to discuss and
review the matter.
