A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ASKING PRESI-
DENT RONALD REAGAN NOT TO ATTEND CEREMONIES
AT THE MILITARY CEMETERY AT BITBURG, WEST
GERMANY.
WHEREAS , President Ronald Reagan has announced his
intent to attend ceremonies honoring German soldiers buried in
the military cemetery at Bitburg , West Germany ; and
WHEREAS , the graves of forty-seven SS storm troopers
are located within the military cemetery at Bitburg ; and
WHEREAS , the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach
believes that President Reagan should not honor those responsible
for the deaths of six million Jews and countless American soldiers
and innocent victims of all faiths during World War II ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH to ask President Ronald Reagan not to
attend ceremonies at the military cemetery at Bitburg , West Germany .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 1st day of May , 1985 .
