A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENDORSING A
MANDATORY SAFETY BELT LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach primary concern is
for the safety and welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the use of safety belts while driving is proven to decrease deaths and
incapacitating injuries; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida, at its 1985 Legislative Session considered but
did not pass a mandatory safety belt law;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of Miami Beach endorses a
Mandatory Safety Belt Law for the State of Florida and urges the consideration of such a
law during the next Legislative Session.
