A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, TO ENTER INTO THE ATTACHED
LETTER OF INTENT WITH SOUTHERN BELL FOR THE EXPANSION
OF THE EMERGENCY SYSTEM TO INCLUDE AUTOMATIC
LOCATION IDENTIFICATION
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, desires to
expand its current emergency telephone system to include an automatic location
identification feature; and
WHEREAS, the enhanced system will increase response time on emergency
services and will decrease the possibility of errors in emergency call origination; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach has demonstrated
in the past and continues to demonstrate its commitment to improve the quality of life and
safety for its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the emergency telephone system will insure a higher degree of safety
for the citizens of Miami Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, is hereby authorized to enter into the attached Letter of Intent with Southern Bell
Telephone and Telegraph Company for the enhanced Automatic Location Identification
System.
