A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA TO DESIGNATE
FEBRUARY OR MARCH, 1987 , AS THE MONTH FOR THE
CONVENING OF A NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF HOLOCAUST
SURVIVORS; SUCH GATHERING BEING CONTINGENT ON
THE AVAILABILITY OF AN ACCEPTABLE FACILITY TO
HANDLE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONVENTION;
COOPERATION WITH AND BY LOCAL SURVIVOR GROUPS;
AVAILABILITY OF A SUITABLE LOCATION FOR SUCH
GATHERING ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY; THE THEME OF
SUCH EVENT TO DEPICT "FORTY YEARS OF NEW
LIFE" ; PLANS FOR SUCH GATHERING SHALL BE
FORMULATED AND EVALUATED DURING THE MARCH,
1986 MEETING OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE
COMMITTEE OF THE AMERICAN GATHERING.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach
desires to support the American Gathering and Federation of Jewish
Holocaust Survivors,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH to designate February or March, 1987 , as
the month for the convening of a National Assembly of Holocaust
Survivors, such gathering being contingent on the availability of
an acceptable facility to handle requirements of the Convention,
the theme of such event to depict "Forty Years of New Life" ;
plans for such gathering to be formulated and evaluated during the
March, 1986 , meeting of the National Executive Committee of the
American Gathering.
PASSED and ADOPTED this -20th day of November, 1985 .

HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR GATHERING IN 1987 IN FLORIDA
IN KEEPING WITH THE RESOLUTION ADOPTED AT THE INAUGURAL ASSEMBLY OF
THE AMERICA! GATHERING & FEDERATION OF JEWISH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS ON APRIL
22, 1985, IN PHILADELPHIA, ESTABLISHING THE PRINCIPLE OF CONVENING AN
ASSEMBLY OF��-.IEWISH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA
EVERY TWO YEARS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY;
BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE NEXT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE AMERICAN
GATHERING & FEDERATION OF JEWISH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS BE CONVENED IN MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY OR MARCH, 1987, PRgVIDING THAT
SUITABLE ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT, JEWISH
FEDERATIONS OF FLORIDA AND SURVIVOR GROUPS, AND AN ACCEPTABLE SITE
SECURED .
A REPORT SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR EVALUATION AND FORMULATION OF PLANS DURING
THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO BE HELD AT THE END
OF FEBRUARY OR THE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH, 1986 IN MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA , THE
PRESIDENT IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE FINAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS MEETING
AND FOR ANOTHER MEETING IN THE FALL OF 1986 ,
THE THEME OF THIS NATIONAL EVENT IN 1987 SHOULD DEPICT FORTY YEARS OF
NEW LIFE OF JEWISH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN THE UNITED
STATES .
