A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING ITS
GRATITUDE TO THE MIAMI BEACH CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE, NORMAN FRANK, LEONARD "DOC" BAKER
IRA GILLER AND MRS . JAN A. PFEIFFER FOR
THEIR EFFORTS IN MAKING THE CONVENTION CENTER
EXPANSION BECOME A REALITY.
WHEREAS , in 1982, the Board of Governors of the Miami
Beach Chamber of Commerce adopted, as its number one economic
goal, the expansion of the Miami Beach Convention Center ; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber ' s Board of Governors believed this
expansion to be the most effective means of revitalizing both
Miami Beach and Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Governors of the Miami Beach
Chamber of Commerce appeared before the State Legislature to
obtain the bills necessary for, this project ' s implementation; and
WHEREAS , the Chamber also worked closely with Dade
County to assist it in issuing the necessary bonds for the
Convention Center ' s expansion; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, speaking for the citizens
of Miami Beach, is grateful for all of the Chambers efforts.
NOW THEREFORE , BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it expresses
its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for all of the efforts
put forth by the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce , Norman Frank ,
Leonard "Doc" Baker and Ira Giller and Mrs. Jan A. Pfeiffer in
making the City of Miami Beach Convention Center Expansion become
a reality.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of February , 1987 .
