RESOLUTION NO. 87-18800
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA REQUESTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATION TO INSPECT EXISTING CARPORTS
IN THE CITY FOR STRUCTURAL SAFETY FREE OF
CHARGE; REQUESTING THAT CITY INSPECTORS
REFRAIN FROM CITING HOMEOWNERS WITH CODE
VIOLATIONS UNTIL SAFETY INSPECTIONS ARE
COMPLETED AND UNTIL NONCONFORMING STATUS OF
EXISTING CARPORTS CAN BE DETERMINED.
WHEREAS, a number of citizens have approached the Mayor
and the Administration with complaints regarding citations of
violation of building codes with respect to existing aluminum
covered carports ; and
WHEREAS , the City has determined that inspection of
existing carports is in the best interests of the citizens of the
City.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA , requests the City
Administration to inspect existing carports in the City for
conformity with South Florida Building Code requesting that City
inspectors refrain from citing homeowners with Code violations
until safety inspections are completed and until nonconforming
status of existing carports can be determined.

1987 .
