A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA , PURSUANT TO
FLA. STAT. SEC. 849 . 093 ( 10 ) (e) , AUTHORIZING
THE 21ST STREET RECREATION CENTER TO BE
UTILIZED BY A "CHARITABLE, NONPROFIT , OR
VETERAN ORGANIZATION " TO OPERATE A
RECREATIONAL BINGO CONCESSION FOR THE PUBLIC
AND, AUTHORIZING AN R.F.P. TO BE ISSUED FOR
SUCH PURPOSE.
WHEREAS , Fla . Stat . Sec. 849 . 093 ( 10) (e) states that bingo
games may be held on municipally-owned property "only where the
governing authority has, by appropriate ordinance or resolution,
specifically authorized the use of such property for the conduct
of such games" ; and
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach wishes to authorize a
concession at the 21st Street Recreation Center to be operated by
a "charitable, nonprofit, or veteran organization" , as defined in
Fla. Stat . Sec. 849 . 093 , to provide recreational bingo to the
public; and
WHEREAS, City wishes to issue an R.F.P. authorizing such use
of the 21st Street facility twice a week .
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH:
( 1 ) that bingo games are hereby specifically authorized to
be conducted at the 21st Street Recreation Center in accordance
with Florida Statute Sec. 849 . 093 ,
( 2 ) that the City Administration is hereby authorized to
issue an RFP requesting proposals for operation of a bingo
concession at the 21st Street Recreation Center twice a week .
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of May , 1987 .
