A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA; AMENDING RESOLUTION 83-17447
CREATING THE COMMUNITY BENEFIT COMMITTEE FOR THE
PERFORMING ARTS BY PROVIDING FOR THE WAIVER OF A
SURCHARGE FOR EVENTS IN THE THEATER OF THE PERFORMING
ARTS WHEN ADMISSION IS $3 . 00 OR LESS.
WHEREAS, the Theater of the Performing Arts is a municipal
facility which the City Commission is desirous to making readily
available to the residents of the City of Miami Beach to enhance
the public good and to enrich the public amusement and general
welfare of the residents of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach has
heard the recommendation of the Community Benefit Committee for
the Performing Arts to amend Resolution No . 83-17447 which
created the Community Benefit Committee for the Performing Arts;
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission agrees with the recommendation
of the Community Benefit Committee.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, to amend Resolution No. 83-17447 ,
Creating the Community Benefit Committee for the Performing Arts
to provide for the waiver of a surcharge for events in the
Theater of Performing Arts when admission is $3 . 00 or less.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 3rd day of June , 1987 .

SUBJECT: REQUEST FRO COMMUNITY BENEFIT COMMITTEE TO CHANGE
RESOLUTION #83-17447
Heather Klein, producer of Story Theatre Productions, Inc., a non-profit
organization, and Julie' Cole, Manager of Dade County Division, appeared
before the Committee on May 14, 1987 to ask for a waiver of the $1.00
surcharge.
A motion was made and voted upon by the Committee to recommend to the
City Comission that the request from Story Theatre Productions, Inc. to
waive the $1.00 surcharge on each ticket sold in the Theater of the
Performing Arts for their coming season be denied.
Another motion was made, seconded and voted unanimously to recommend
to the City Commission that Resolution #83-17447 creating the
Community Benefit Committee be amended to exclude from the provisions
of this Resolution those events in the Theater of the Performing Arts for
which the admission charge is $3.00 or less.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: Approve Community Benefit
Committee's recommendation to change Resolution #83-17447 to waive the
$1.00 surcharge on those events for which the admission charge is $3.00 or
less.
