A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO ESTABLISH TWO NEW
WORK ORDERS IN FUND 359 WITH AN
APPROPRIATION FOR THE SECOND WORK ORDER
IN THE AMOUNT OF $70,000 FROM ARC BOND
FUND 359.
WHEREAS, the implementation process of the City-wide
communication system is currently underway in the City of Miami
Beach; and
WHEREAS, three work orders have previously been
established for specific portions of the project including the
purchase of fire equipment, computer-aided dispatch system,
telephone and radio systems; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish two new work
orders under the ARC Bond Fund 359 to allow for accurate tracking
of each individual phase of the project; and
WHEREAS, the first work order will isolate
administrative, operating, and consulting costs of the entire
project. No appropriation is necessary for this work order as
funding was previously approved; and
WHEREAS, the second work order will isolate the costs
for the installation and relocation of the E-9-1-1 (Automatic
Location Indicator) system which was awarded by Commission action
on October 2 , 1985 ; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for an appropriation to be
made for the second work order from the unappropriated fund
balance of Fund 359 , in the amount of $70 , 000 ; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City
Manager is hereby authorized to establish two additional work
orders, with an appropriation in the amount of $70 , 000 to be made
for the second work order from the ARC Bond Fund 359 .

SUBJECT: REQUEST TO ES ABLISH TWO WORK ORDERS; ONE FOR
ADMINISTRATIVE, CONSULTING, AND OPERATING COSTS FOR THE ARC
PROJECT AND ONE FOR THE INSTALLATION/RELOCATION COSTS FOR
THE 9-1-1 (ALI) SYSTEM
The implementation process of the City-wide communication system
is currently underway. There have been work orders previously
established for each of the specific portions of the project: the
purchase of fire equipment, computer-aided dispatch system,
telephone and radio systems.
At this time, the Administration is recommending that two
additional work orders be created within Fund 359. The purpose
of these two new work orders are to isolate administrative,
operating, and consulting costs for the project as a whole. The
second will isolate the costs for the installation and relocation
of the E-9-1-1 (Automatic Location Indicator) system that was
awarded by the City Commission on October 2, 1985. These
additional work orders will allow for accurate tracking of each
individual phase of the project.
No appropriation will be necessary for the first of the two
above-referenced work orders. The City Commission has previously
approved that funding be authorized for the administration and
operating costs of implementing the telecommunication issue. The
creation of this work order will be for accounting purposes only.
The second work order, however, will require an appropriation of
$70,000. Funding for this appropriation will be from the
unappropriated fund balance of Fund 359. ;'
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the City Commission authorize .
the City Manager to establish two new work orders in Fund 359
(the ARC Bond Fund) : one for the administrative costs and one
for the relocation and installation costs of the ALI system with
a corresponding appropriation of $70,000 to the new ALI work
order from unreserved fund balance in Fund 359.
