A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION
OF $34,000 FROM THE JUSTICE CENTER BOND FUND NO. 354.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is desirous of completing a groom's quarters
above the stable, Miami Beach Police Department Mounted Patrol for the purpose of
providing living quarters for full-time groom; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is desirous of providing funds for the following
items in conjunction with the completion of the groom's quarters at the Miami Beach Police
Department Mounted Patrol: Item No. 1 - Knee Bracing; Item No. 2, Storage Addition; Item
No. 3, Finish carpentry work; Item No. 4, Plumbing; Item No. 5, Asphalt; Item No. 6, Water
Control and Drainage; Item No. 7, Purchase of appliances and rugs for the quarters; and,
WHEREAS, it is estimated that these items will require an expenditure of
approximately $34,000.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of Miami Beach Commission appropriates an
additional $34,000 from the interest earnings of the Justice Center Bond Fund No. 354.

SUBJECT: MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT STABLE - GROOM'S QUARTERS
EXPANSION PROJECT, APPROPRIATION FOR CONSTRUCTION COSTS
This appropriation shall fund the balance of the construction needed to complete the
expansion of the groom's quarters of the Miami Beach Police Department Stable located
within South Pointe Park.
1. Knee bracing - placement of all knee bracing to stablize the upright $ 3,200.00
supports surrounding the entire stable.
2. Storage addition - additional storage capacity, store hay, etc., shall 3,800.00
be measurements of four feet wide, eight feet high, approximately
thirty feet long located at the south end of the barn.
3. Finish carpentry work - to include the finishing of the interior of the 8,000.00
groom's quarters, placement of the fence around the exterior of the
stairwell, as well as finishing off the stairwell and placement of all
cabinets, etc., to the interior of the building.
4. Plumbing - to provide for the finish plumbing, hook-up of all appliances. 2,000.00
5. Asphalt - to provide a layer of asphalt, one and a half inches thick, 8,000.00
placed on a base of six inches of rock to a width of twelve feet
surrounding the interior stables of the barn to eliminate dust, dirt, and
excess standing water in the vicinity of the stables.
6. Water control and drainage - to provide for proper drainage surrounding 7,000.00
the entire stable to include drywells, gutters and down-spouts from the
roof, berms, etc.
7. Appliances and finished items - to provide for the purchase of the stove, 2,000.00
refrigerator, rug, etc., for the interior of the groom's quarters.
TOTAL $34,000.00
These expenditures are based on individual bids from individual contractors providing the
above services. Funds are available from the interest earnings of the Justice Center Bond
Fund No. 354.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends appropriation of $34,000.00 from the interest earnings of
the Justice Center Bond Fund No. 354 for the purpose of providing the finishing of the
