A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, CREATING THE ART DECO DEVELOPERS ADVISORY BOARD AND
ESTABLISHING MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS, POWERS AND DUTIES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
THAT
WHEREAS, Economic Development remains the number one priority of the City
of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, property owners in the Miami Beach architectural district remain
concerned with the economic and cultural vitality of the district; and
WHEREAS, the concerns of these property owners are of vital importance to the
City Commission of the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration and property owners agree that the creation
of an advisory board with specific powers and duties in the Miami Beach Architectural
District would be in the best interest of all parties concerned;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Art Deco Developers Advisory Board is
hereby created and shall be comprised of eleven (11) members; and that each City
Commissioner shall have the authority to appoint one member to this board and that the
four (4) remaining members shall be appointed by the City Manager and approved by a
majority vote of the City Commission; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that members of the Art Deco Developers Advisory
Board must be permanent residents of or have their principal place of business in the City of
Miami Beach to be eligible candidates for appointment. Each member shall serve a term of
one year; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the duties and responsibilities of this board shall
be as listed in "Exhibit A", attached and incorporated herein by reference.

ART DECO DEVELOPERS ADVISORY BOARD
MEMBERSHIP AND DUTIES
MEMBERSHIP
The overall affairs of the Advisory Board shall be under the supervision and control of the
Miami Beach City Commission. The Board shall consist of eleven (11) members. Each
member of the City Commission shall be entitled to appoint one (1) member to the Board
and the remaining four (4) members shall be appointed by the City Manager and approved by
a majority vote of the City Commission. Each term of office shall be for one year. Each
member of the Board shall be a permanent resident of or have his/her principal place of
business in the City of Miami Beach.
POWERS AND DUTIES
The Board shall adopt rules and regulations governing its affairs subject to the approval of
the City Commission.
In order to accomplish the objectives of managing and providing for the development of
property within the Miami Beach Architectural District, the Board may, with the approval
of the City Commission, conduct the following activities:
o Advise the City Commission on such matters as public improvements, private
investments, and marketing strategies to enable the Miami Beach Architectural
District to continue to enhance its economic base and improve its general
business environment.
o Cooperate with all City departments, boards and committees and implement
short range and long range plans designed to enhance property values within the
District. With the assistance of City departments, coordinate and develop the
necessary development incentives for the private sector to implement such plans
to the fullest extent possible.
o Prepare recommendations for the security and maintenance of the Miami Beach
Architectural District or any portion thereof.
o Recommend bond issues and special assessment district programs to the City
Com mission.
o Recommend to the City Commission any such action as the Board deems
necessary to accomplish its objectives.
