A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA URGING AND
STRONGLY ENCOURAGING THE DADE COUNTY SCHOOL
BOARD TO RENAME THE SOUTH BEACH ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL TO THE SOUTH POINTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA THAT:
WHEREAS, recent revitalization of the southernmost region of
Miami_ Beach has spurred renewed interest in this area; and
WHEREAS, this area of the City, known as "South Pointe" ,
presently houses the South Beach Elementary School ; and
WHEREAS , in an effort to maintain the aura of
revitalization, the Dade County School Board is urged to rename
the school located in this area to "South Pointe Elementary
School" .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT it hereby urges and
strongly encourages the Dade County School Board to rename the
"South Beach Elementary School" to the "South Pointe Elementary
School" .
