MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION I ...y7
OF $10,685,000 FROM THE CONVENTION CENTER BOND FUND
NO. 358. d
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is desirous of
renovating the west wraparound of the Miami Beach Convention
Center for the purpose of providing a unified, completely
expanded and renovated Convention Center; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach is desirous of
providing for the following items in conjunction with the
expansion of the Convention Center: architectural/engineering
fees, construction costs including a contingency allowance,
testing laboratory costs, FFE costs, as well as any associated
costs in the addition to or relocation of utilities, such as
Southern Bell and Florida Power and Light; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that these items will require
an expenditure of approximately $10, 685,000 over a one-year
period; and
WHEREAS, the Tourist and Convention Center Expansion
Authority reviewed these items and have approved of the
appropriation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of
Miami Beach City Commission appropriate an additional $10 ,685 ,000
from the Convention Center Bond Fund No. 358 .

SUBJECT: CONVENTION CENTER EXPANSION PROJECT - APPROPRIATION
FOR THE WEST WRAPAROUND RENOVATION
This appropriation shall fund the following services which are necessary for the West
Wraparound renovation:
1. Architect and Engineering Fees
Base Fee $ 770,000
Additional Meeting Rooms 20,000
More than one Contractor 45,000
Total $ 835,000
2. Construction Cost $ 8,000,000
Contingency Allowance 800,000
Total $ 8,800,000
3. Testing Laboratory Costs $ 50,000
4. FF&E Costs $ 800,000
This appropriation will provide for the proper
furnishing and for the necessary equipment to
ensure the proper operation of the West
Wraparound.
5. Utility Costs $ 200,000
This appropriation will provide for any costs
charged for additional needs by Southern Bell
and Florida Power and Light.
Total $10,685,000
These expenditures have been presented to and approved by the Tourist and Convention
Center Expansion Authority. Funds are available from the Convention Center Expansion
Project Bond Fund No. 358.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends the appropriation of $10,685,000 from the Convention
Center Expansion Bond Fund No. 358 for the purpose of providing the above services to
successfully complete this project.
