A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY
AND THE MIAMI SPORTS AND EXHIBITION AUTHORITY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF CONTRACTING WITH TOUCHE ROSS & CO., FOR
THE COMPLETION OF AN AUDIT, REPORTING AND TRAINING
PROGRAM TO MAXIMIZE THE COLLECTION OF TOURIST
DEVELOPMENT AND CONVENTION CENTER DEVELOPMENT
TAXES.
WHEREAS, Section 163.01, Florida Statutes (1983) and the Metropolitan Dade County
Home Rule Charter, as amended permits the City to establish interlocal agreements with
other localities; and
WHEREAS, Section 163.01, Florida Statutes (1983) and the Metropolitan Dade County
Home Rule Charter, as amended, permit the County, and Section 163.01, Florida Statutes
(1983), permits the City to establish interlocal agreements with other localities; and,
WHEREAS, the State of Florida has amended Chapter 83-354, Laws of Florida (1983)
as amended by Chapter 84-67, Laws of Florida (1984) by enacting Chapter 87-99 Laws of
Florida (1987) which transfers the authority to collect and administer collection of the
Convention Development Tax and Tourist Development Tax from the State Department of
Revenue to Dade County, Florida; and,
WHEREAS, the County has enacted Ordinance Nos. 87-80 and 87-81, which provide for
the collection, administration and local enforcement of the collection of the Convention
Development Tax and Tourist Development Tax, respectively; and,
WHEREAS, the County, City and the Sports Authority desire to set forth their
agreement relating to the strategy for collecting these taxes and provide for an Audit,
Reporting and Training Program to maximize the collectibility of the taxes.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City of Miami Beach Commission authorizes the Mayor
and City Clerk to execute the attached Interlocal Agreement between the City of Miami
Beach, Metropolitan Dade County and the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority for the
purpose of contracting with Touche Ross & Co., for the completion of an Audit, Reporting
and Training Program to maximize the collection of the Convention Development and
Tourist Development Taxes.
