A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RENAMING THE
MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER THE STEPHEN
MUSS CONVENTION CENTER; AND PROVIDING FOR
REDESIGNATION OF THE EXISTING HALLS AND TWO
NEW MEETING HALLS AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION
NO. 88-19165.
WHEREAS, with the efforts of Stephen Muss, the Convention
Development Tax was created, thus permitting the funding for the
expansion of the Convention Center; and,
WHEREAS, Stephen Muss has been a principal ; proponent in the
unification of various tourism and Convention promotion efforts,
resulting the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau; and,
WHEREAS, the Seacoast Properties and the Fountainebleau
Hilton Resort, under Stephen Muss' leadership, have provided the
finest in residential, hotel, and resort facilities in the City
of Miami Beach; and,
WHEREAS, Stephen Muss has been a leader in the development
of the concept for a Public Facilities Trust that would provide
for uniform operations, planning, and development of convention
and tourism-related facilities throughout Dade County; and,
WHEREAS, Stephen Muss has devoted countless hours dedicated
to civic involvement and accomplishments.
NOW THEREFORE, in recognition of the singularly outstanding
achievements provided by Stephen Muss to the City of Miami Beach
and Metropolitan Dade County, do we, the Mayor and City
Commission of the City of Miami Beach, hereby designate the Miami
Beach Convention Center to be known henceforth as Stephen Muss
Convention Center.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT existing Hall Convention Center
South be designated Hall C; that existing Hall Convention Center
North be designated Hall D; and two new Halls (Northeast Hall be
designated Hall A; Southeast Hall be designated Hall B) ; and
Resolution No. 88-19165, passed on February 17 , 1988 is hereby
rescinded in its entirety.
