A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA FOR PURPOSES OF ESTABLISHING A
PUBLIC HEARING TO REVIEW A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE
ZONING ORDINANCE PLACING THE MIAMI BEACH
ARCHITECTURAL DISTRICT UNDER THE DESIGN REVIEW
PROCEDURES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA THAT:
WHEREAS, the City Commission of Miami Beach has adopted portions of the Miami
Beach Architectural District as locally designated Historic Districts, recognizing the area's
unique architectural, cultural and historical significance; and,
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Architectural District has been the focus of national and
international attention due to its unique and irreplacable character; and,
WHEREAS, recent projects, both new construction and rehabilitation, have occurred
which are incompatible with the architectural and aesthetic sense of the district; and,
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need for continued revitalization of the
Architectural District which respects and maintains the district's architectural integrity;
and,
WHEREAS, the expansion of the Design Review area will help ensure quality and
continuity of design for properties within the Architectural District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that a public hearing for consideration of the
aforementioned proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance is hereby called to be held
before the City Commission in its chambers on the Third Floor of City Hall, 1700 Convention
Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida beginning at 2:00 P.M. on the 18th day of May 1988 and
the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish appropriate Public Notice of said
Public Hearing to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Miami
Beach, at which time and place all interested parties will be heard.
