RESOLUTION 88-19244 RESOLUTION NO. 88-19244 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FLORIDA URGING FEDERAL REPRESENTATIVES TO PROVIDE AS MUCH FUNDING AS POSSIBLE FOR ILEITIS AND COLITIS AWARENESS. WHEREAS, approximately two million Americans are afflicted with painful, crippling and chronic illnesses called Ileitis or Ulcerative Colitis; and WHEREAS, medical science has not yet been able to discover the causes or cures for these terrible diseases, which have particularly devastating effects on children; and WHEREAS, the National Foundation for Ileitis and Colitis, a health organization comprised of interested volunteers and medical specialists, has long been active in the quest to conquer these diseases; and WHEREAS, the Foundation's current "Friends For All Seasons Community Volunteer Campaign" is designed to educate as many Floridians as possible about the seriousness of Ileitis and Colitis, and to enlist their personal support to find a cure; and WHEREAS, it is especially fitting that the people of Miami Beach acknowledge the dedicated efforts of this fine organization and its goals to increase public awareness of the medical problems of Ileitis and Ulcerative Colitis; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH urge Federal representatives to provide as much funding as possible for Ileitis and Colitis awareness.
