A RESOUJTION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
• FLORIDA URGING THE DADE 'LEAGUE OF CITIES TO •
ESTABLISH 'A "REWARD FUND" WHEREBY REWARDS
WILL BE GIVEN TO ANY PERSON(S) , OTHER THAN
OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OR THEIR IMMEDIATE
FAMILIES OF ANY GOVERNMENT ENTITY FOR
INFORMATION LEADING TO THE APPREHENSION AND
CONVICTION OF ANY PERSON COMMITTING THE CRIME
OF MURDER OR ATTEMPTED MURDER OF ANY POLICE
OFFICER OF ANY MUNICIPAL, STATE OR FEDERAL -
GOVERNMENT WHILE PERFORMING HIS DUTIES IN
DADE COUNTY FLORIDA AND FURTHER CONTRIBUTING
$1,000.00 TO SAID FUND CONDITIONED UPON ALL
MUNICIPALITIES AND THE COUNTY OF DADE, EACH
CONTRIBUTING A MINIMUM OF $1,000.00 TO SAID
FUND.
WHEREAS, there have been murders of or attempted
murders of Police Officers in Dade County, Florida at an alarming
and increasing rate; and
WHEREAS, it would be to the best interest of the
residents of the City of Miami Beach and for all municipalities
and the County as a whole to provide incentives' for persons to
give information leading to the apprehension and conviction of
such criminals who believe that Police Officers are fair game for
killing and injuring; and.
WHEREAS, a concerted effort should be made to protect
the safety, welfare and health of all citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AS FOLLOWS:'
1. The City Commission hereby urges the Dade League
of Cities to establish a "Reward Fund" whereby rewards will be
given to any person(s) , other than officers and employees - or
their immediate families of any government entity for information
leading to the apprehension and conviction of any person
committing the crime of murder or attempted murder of any Police
Officer of any municipal, state or federal government while
performing his duties in Dade County; and
2 . The City of Miami Beach shall contribute the sum
of $1 , 000 . 00 to the Reward Fund, conditioned upon all
municipalities and the County of Dade, each contributing a
minimum of $1, 000. 00 to said Fund.
