A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
APPROPRIATING $120,000 FROM ARC BOND FUND
NO. 359 TO A NEW WORK ORDER FOR THE
NETWORKING OF COMPUTER TERMINALS FROM
VARIOUS CITY FACILITIES.
WHEREAS, the relocation of the Department of Computers
and Communications to the Police Facility created the need for
networking computer terminals from various City facilities to the
computer room; and,
WHEREAS, this requirement was partially accomplished
within the Motorola Contract with the City of Miami Beach wherein
provisions were made to tie all terminals within the City Hall
Building to the main computer via the microwave system; and,
WHEREAS, additional data network requirements are
necessary due to the addition of the Land Management System and
the requirement of each Fire Station to use Fire CAD and RMS
terminals and printers; and,
WHEREAS, this will eliminate the need for costly
Southern Bell data lines and provide a City-owned data
communications network.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City
Commission approves the appropriation of $120 , 000 from the ARC
Bond Fund No. 359 to a new Work Order for the equipment, cabling
and installation, to develop a data network for the purpose of
connecting computer terminals and printers from various City
facilities to the main computer room.

THE APPROPRIATION FROM THE ARC BOND FUND
NO. 359 TO A NEW WORK ORDER FOR THE PURPOSE
OF CONNECTING COMPUTER TERMINALS AND PRINTERS.
The relocation of the Department of Computers and Communications

Room. This requirement was partially accomplished within the

With the installation of the Land Management System and the
relocation of the Building Department, it is now necessary to
network Fire Stations, Fire Headquarters and the Building
Department via a City-owned network in lieu of expensive Southern
Bell-provided data lines.
Funds in the amount of $120 , 000 are available in the ARC Bond
Fund Project for this purpose.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends the approval of $120 ,000 from ARC
Bond Fund No. 359 for equipment, cabling and installation of a
data network to enable the connection of computer terminals and
printers to the City' s host computers.
