Parkins City Manager SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE THIRD AMENDMENT TO THE FY 1987/88 GENERAL FUND BUDGET The attached Resolution provides for the third amendment to the F.Y 1987/88 General Fund Budget and is necessary in order to maintain and continue certain integral functions of the City as follows: 1 . FIRE DEPARTMENT The increased number of medical emergency calls for service requires that additional medical supplies be purchased to ensure that Rescue Units are adequately equipped; funding in the amount of $20,450 is needed. Further, to ensure that rescue personnel are certified, an additional $8,900 will be needed to pay Re-certifi - cation e-certifi - cation Fees. The total increase in the Department's budget would be $29,350. Funding will be provided from increased collections from Rescue fees. 2. BUILDING DEPARTMENT During the past year, the City has been streamlining the building permitting process. This process included establishment of a separate department, relocation of the department, and finally, the reorganization of personnel necessary to effectively staff the function. As a result of the latter, it became necessary to add three positions during the fiscal year. Further, due to the other improvements, such as, implementation of the automated land management system, microfilming of building plans and permits, and the increased number of permits being processed, it is also necessary to further increase the Department's operating expenditures. The increased appropriations request is for $95,000 and will be funded from increased building permits collections. 3. OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER In order to provide improved coordination and administration between the City of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency, the Executive Secretary for the Agency was transferred to the Office of the City Manager. Additional funding of $12,650 is required and will be provided by an increase in the management fee paid by the Agency to the City. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION The Administration recommends that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution providing for the third amendment to the FY 1987/88 General Fund Budget. 46 Pi4k PFL.me AGENDA0 4 _---,-- .
