A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF TWO SPECIAL REVENUE ACCOUNTS
IN THE AMOUNTS OF $33,000 AND $5,000 TO
OPERATE THE EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS PROGRAM,
AND APPROPRIATING SUCH FUNDS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach was authorized by Resolution
Number 87-19009 to apply for, and has received approval for,
funding for the Emergency Shelter Grants Program from the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of
$33 , 000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach was authorized by Resolution
Number 88-19191 to apply for, and has received approval for,
funding from the Further Continuing Appropriations Act from the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of
$5, 000 to be used for the same project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has received a total of
$38, 000 for the operation and rehabilitation of the Miami Mission
Association, Inc; and
WHEREAS, two Special Revenue accounts are required to be
established to operate said program; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that the funds received by the City
be appropriated for this program;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager is hereby
authorized to establish two Special Revenue accounts for the
Emergency Shelter Grants Program, and to appropriate such funds.

As authorized by Resolution Number 87-19009 and Resolution Number
88-19191, the City of Miami Beach applied for and received approval
for funding through the Emergency Shelter Grant Program, pursuant
to the Title IV of the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act,
PL 100-77, and the Fiscal Year 1988 Further Continuing
Appropriations Act, PL 100-202, both through the U.S. Department
of Housing and Urban Development.
The City of Miami Beach has been awarded $33 , 000 in the first round
of funding, and $5, 000 from the continuing round, for the
operation/rehabilitation of the Miami Mission Association, Inc.
The attached Resolution allows for the establishment of two Special
Revenue accounts, in the amounts of $33 , 000 and $5, 000
respectively, and requests authorization to appropriate such funds.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the Resolution be adopted.
