SUBJECT: MIAMI BEACH CITY COMMISSION T ANSPORTATION WORKSHOP (UPDATE)
Miami Beach is pleased to announce that the Mayor and City Commission are hosting a
Transportation Workshop scheduled for 9 am to 12 pm on Monday, July 15, focusing on the
Miami-Dade County Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan's Beach Corridor rapid
transit project. It Is anticipated that the Miami~Dade Transportation Planning Organization will be
making its choice for a locally preferred alternative some time this fall.
At this workshop, Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works will present on its
Beach Corridor study and its recently received unsolicited proposal for the Beach Corridor.
Attached please find an agenda for the workshop.
Representatives from the City of Miami, Florida Department of Transportation, and Miami~Dade
Transportation Planning Organization have all been invited to the workshop.
The City's Transportation Department Is engaging a consultant to conduct an independent
analysis of the proposed Beach Corridor alternatives, with the goal of ensuring a project that
works for Miami Beach.
