A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENDORSING AND SUPPORTING
THE DEMOLITION OF GOODMAN TERRACE AND THE
REPLACEMENT TO THE UNITS PURSUANT TO THE MIAMI
BEACH HOUSING AUTHORITY PLAN.
WHEREAS, Section 18(b) (3) (C) of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937, as amended,
requires the approval of the local governing body for the replacement housing plan
pertaining to the demolition of existing units; and,
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Housing Authority (MBHA) plans to replace the
fifty (50) Goodman Terrace housing units proposed to be demolished with project based
certificates for Section 8 units which have been authorized and allocated to MBHA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED, that the City Commission of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, subject to all government approvals, hereby endorses and
supports the demolition of Goodman Terrace by MBHA and the replacement of the units
pursuant to the MBHA plan.

SUBJECT: GOODMAN TERRACE DEMOLITION
For some time, the Miami Beach Housing Authority has been attempting to obtain
permission to demolish Goodman Terrace. According to the Housing Authority's Director,
nearly all procedural steps have been accomplished in order to obtain permission from
Washington for the demolition of Goodman Terrace. One step remains for the City to take,
and that is to adopt a Resolution approving the demolition of Goodman Terrace and the
provision of replacement housing with Project Based Certificates.
The attached Resolution is in accordance with the wording that has been requested by HUD
in order to meet their administrative standards.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution.
