RESOLUTION 89-19591 RESOLUTION NO. 89-19591 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WYl'H THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1988 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1991. WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted for the consideration of the City Commission for the City of Miami Beach, a proposed Agreement by and between the City of Miami Beach and the Fraternal Order of Police, the bargaining agent certified by the Public Employees Relations Commission for the employees to be covered by said Agreement, setting forth certain provisions concerning wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment affecting the classes of employees set forth in said Agreement; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that the City Commission approve said Agreement; and WHEREAS, the City Commission is familiar with the terms and provisions of said proposed Agreement and finds and determines that the entry into and the execution thereof for and in the name of the City of Miami Beach is in the best interest of the City of Miami Beach and its residents; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has approved the same as to form and the legal import thereof; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the aforesaid Agreement be and it is hereby approved in accordance with and subject to the provisions of Chapter 447, Florida Statutes, in the name of and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach, and that the financial officers of the City be and they are hereby directed to make the disbursements called for by said Agreement for fiscal year 1988/89 from funds of the City available for such purpose; all increases to be effective upon this date of ratification except the across-the-board wage increase which is effective October 1, 1988. Park ' 4a, CityManager r SUBJECT: RATIFICATION 0 THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE FATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE (F.O.P.) The Faternal Order of Police has recently ratified the union contract negotiated with the City of Miami Beach and their contract is now presented to the City Commission for ratificaton. The wage settlement is 1.55%, effective October 1, 1988, as yielded by the wage formula, no increase in the second year of the contract, and a wage reopener in the third year of the contract. Other language changes agreed to at the bargaining table are incorporated into the contract, and the contract expires September 30, 1991. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the resolution ratifying the contract between the City of Miami Beach and the F.O.P. , and adopt the ordinance granting the 1.55% wage increase effective October 1, 1988.
