A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH CREATING AND ESTABLISHING THE
21ST STREET RECREATION CENTER ADVISORY BOARD;
PRESCRIBING ITS DUTIES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE
MANNER OF APPOINTMENT AND THE TERM OF OFFICE
OF ITS MEMBERS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, that a Board to be known as the 21st Street
Recreation Center Advisory Board be and the same is hereby created
and established, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED as follows:
1. Said Board shall consist of eleven (11) members; one (1)
member shall be appointed by each Commissioner and four (4) shall
be appointed by the Commission at-large.
2 . Each member shall be a duly qualified and registered
voter of the City of Miami Beach, and shall possess a record of
interest in the welfare and betterment of the City and an
acknowledged leader in the field of recreational activities and
promotion of special events in Miami Beach.
3 . The terms of office for the seven (7) members appointed
by the Commissioner shall expire with the term of the Commissioner
making the appointment. The terms of the four (4) at-large members
shall expire at the conclusion of the elected term of the
Commission making the appointment. Any vacancy occurring on the
Board shall be filled in the same manner as was his predecessor.
4 . Members of this Board shall serve without compensation.
The City Manager shall provide space in the facility or elsewhere
for the Board to hold its meetings. The Board shall submit to the
City Commission interim reports as to the performance of its duties
and responsibilities as hereinabove set forth.
5. The members of the Board shall select and designate from
its members a chairperson or two (2) co-chairpersons and such other
officers as may be deemed necessary. All meetings of the Board
shall be open to the public. No action shall be taken by the Board
except by a majority vote of the entire membership. The Board may
adopt rules of procedure governing its meetings and actions on

matters within its jurisdiction, not inconsistent with the
provisions of this Resolution.
6. The 21st Street Recreation Center Advisory Board is
hereby vested with the power and authority to make recommendations
to the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach for the
advancement, planning and programming of sound recreational
activities in the 21st Street Recreation Center, and for the
encouragement, establishment and development of new recreational
programs in that Center, and to educate, promote and enhance
awareness of the special events needs for all people and with the
objective of making the community a recognized leader in the State
of Florida in the field of recreational activities.
