A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD TO
SERVE AS CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE SPECIAL ELECTION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO BE HELD AT THE TIME OF THE
AUGUST 29, 1989 DADE COUNTY ELECTIONS.
WHEREAS, on August 29, 1989, Dade County will be conducting
elections at which time the City of Miami Beach has authorized the
holding of a special election relating to the straw ballot question
as to whether electors in precinct 15 (Fairway Park, Normandy Isle,
200 Fairway Drive) , precinct 18 (Normandy Shores Golf Course, 2401
Biarritz Drive) , precinct 19 (Normandy Isle Municipal Pool, 1765
71st Street) , precinct 20 (Indian Creek Fire Station, 6880 Indian
Creek Drive) , precinct 28 (North Beach Elementary School, 4100
Prairie Avenue) and precinct 31 (Dade Boulevard Fire Station #2 ,
2300 Pine Tree Drive) want traffic control devices (traffic
diverters) on residential streets on Normandy Isle and Flamingo
Drive to regulate the movement of motor vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach under the auspices of Dade
County, will be submitting to the City' s electorate in precinct
nos. 15, 18 , 19, 20, 2 8 and 31, the aforesaid straw ballot question
at said election; and
WHEREAS, Dade County is charged with the full responsibility
of conducting the aforesaid election, short of certifying the
results of the City of Miami Beach' s ballot question; and
WHEREAS, the County Canvassing Board shall be charged with
the statutory responsibilities relating to the conduct of elections
on August 29, 1989 and shall act as Canvassing Board for the City
of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that the County Canvassing Board is hereby
authorized to act as Canvassing Board for the August 29 , 1989
Special Election of the City of Miami Beach.
