A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE
WHATEVER STEPS NECESSARY TO HAVE THE STEPHEN
MUSS CONVENTION CENTER RENAMED TO THE MIAMI
BEACH CONVENTION CENTER.
WHEREAS, on September 6, 1989 , the certification of the
Metropolitan Dade County Supervisor of Elections, was received
setting forth that the petition filed by the chairman of the
Committee to rename the Stephen Muss Convention Center , contained
a sufficient number of valid signatures of registered voters
residing in Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission was advised by Mayor Daoud of Mr .
Muss ' s request that his name be removed from the Convention Center
rather than to cause continued division in the community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Commission accede to Mr .
Muss ' s request, and hereby directs the City Manager to take
whatever steps necessary to have the Stephen Muss Convention Center
renamed to the Miami Beach Convention Center .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT ALL other terms of Resolution No.
88-19215 remain in full force and effect.
