A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO VOICE
AND DATA TELECOMMUNICATIONS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND MIAMI COMMUNICATIONS, INC.
PROVIDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL TWO YEAR PERIOD WHICH
IS AUTHORIZED UNDER THE EXISTING CONTRACT.
WHEREAS, on December 22 , 1986, pursuant to Resolution No. 86-
18703 ,

18703 , the City and Future Telecommunications, Inc. ("FTI") entered
into a Voice and Data Telecommunications Agreement for the Miami
Beach Convention Center ("Agreement") ; and,
WHEREAS, effective on the first day of April 1988, FTI
assigned all of its right, title and interest in the Agreement to
Miami Communications, Inc. ("MICOM") and the City consented to the
Assignment on July 15, 1988 pursuant to Resolution No. 88-19294 ;
and,
WHEREAS, MICOM has requested the City to extend the initial
five (5) year term of the Agreement for an additional two (2)
years, for a total of seven (7) years; and,
WHEREAS, the City is willing to extend the term for an
additional two (2) years, provided that MICOM agree with certain
other provisions as set forth in the First Amendment; and,
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended the First Amendment
and the City Attorney has approved it as to form.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA hereby authorizes the Mayor and
the City Clerk to execute the First Amendment to Voice and Data
Telecommunications Agreement extending the term of the Agreement
for an additional two year period, for a total of seven (7) years.

SUBJECT:
AGREEMENT FOR THE CONVENTION CENTER BETWEEN THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH AND MIAMI COMMUNICATIONS, INC.
HISTORY
The City of Miami Beach entered into a Contract with Future
Telecommunications, Inc. , on December 22 , 1986, which we later
assigned to Miami Communications, Inc. , for the purpose of
providing a Voice and Data Telecommunications concession at the
Convention Center.
Miami Communications, Inc. has requested that the City amend the
Contract by approving the two year option extension provided for
in the Agreement.
BACKGROUND
The request was made due to Miami Communications, Inc. ' s negative
cash flow, which according to the vendor is partly resulting from
the bookings at the Convention Center being less than anticipated.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
The City Administration recommends that the Commission authorize
the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the First Amendment to Voice
and Data Telecommunications Agreement for an additional two year
period provided for as a renewal option in the existing contract.
