Resolution 2019-30917 RESOLUTION NO. 2019-30917 •
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING,AND ENDORSING
A SISTER CITY AFFILIATION WITH THE CITY OF CASCAIS,
PORTUGAL.
WHEREAS, Cascais, Portugal is a is a town located along the Portuguese coast
and close to Lisbon; and
WHEREAS, Cascais is a traditional charming decorative 19th century town of
historic architecture and modern tourist facilities, which also sports grand villas and
lavish venues due to the Portuguese nobility having chosen this site for their summer
residence; and
WHEREAS, Miami Beach, also being a coastal historic community has a lot in
common with this seaside town; and
WHEREAS, this alliance would serve to stimulate economic, financial,
entertainment and cultural exchanges between these cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and endorse a sister city affiliation with the City of Cascais,
Portugal.
