A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR THE CITY' S MAINTENANCE OF THE PROPOSED NEW
STAR ISLAND BRIDGE OVER BISCAYNE BAY
WHEREAS, The Department of Transportation of the State of
Florida has agreed, using Federal aid, to replace the existing Star
Island Bridge over Biscayne Bay; and
WHEREAS, as a necessary part of such project, the City must
agree to assume responsibilities for the maintenance of the
proposed new structure on completion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMI SS ION OF THE
CITY OF MIMAI BEACH, FLORIDA, hereby authorizes the Mayor and City
Clerk to execute an agreement with the State of Florida Department
of Transportation agreeing to assume the maintenance
responsibilities for the bridge upon completion.

SUBJECT: EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE CITY'S MAINTENANCE
OF THE PROPOSED NEW STAR ISLAND BRIDGE OVER BISCAYNE BAY
The Department of Transporation of the State of Florida has agreed to
replace the Star Island Bridge using Federal aid. The State requires that
the City of Miami Beach agree to assume responsibilites for the
maintenance of the new proposed structure.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends the execution of an agreement with the
State of Florida Department of Transportation for the City's maintenance
of the proposed new Star Island Bridge over Biscayne Bay.

MS AMDDIERT, made and entered into this 18th day of September,
19 9 0 , by and between the STATE OF DFP OF
UIJ, hereinafter called Department, and CITY of MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, hereinafter called City.
WI TN E S S TH:
the Department is preparipg to undertake a Project of
which is within City property, identified and known to the parties as
Project No. 87000-3682 (Star Island Bridge over Biscayne Waterway) , iii
accordance with Attachment "A" drawing, shcming the description and
the limits of work, which will be of benefit to the City, and
the City Commission has by proper resolution attached
hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, authorized its
officers to enter into this Aexeement, and
WEREAS, approval of Federal aid necessary to the P`ro j ect requires
agreement by the City to maintain the project or parts of the pro j ect .
which are jurisdiction,

WM, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, the parties
agree:
1. The Department will undertake the Project and obtain approval
for federal participation.
2. Upon Completion, the City will resume responsibilities for
mairtvnance of the Project or applicable parts of the Project
within its jurisdiction and will conduct sixth mintenance in
accordance with Federal standards.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have set their hands and
affixed their seals on the day and year first above written.
